The thought and work behind the design.

Searching for the right hue.

Tropical flowers are often known for their vibrant, bold colors, and while we love their bright energy, we also understand the desire for the same lively vibe in softer hues. This celebration was the perfect example.

We searched for pastel-toned that would complement the stunning setting overlooking Hanalei Bay.

Rainbow Shower Tree

We hoped the rainbow shower trees (Cassia javanica) would be in bloom, but there was no guarantee we’d be able to source it. So, we had a backup plan with different materials for the aisle. But when we discovered that the trees on Kauaʻi were still blooming, we couldn’t resist making a last-minute switch. These flowers are delicate and not the most heat-resistant, but with my team’s care, we made it possible.

Grateful for Sharon's kind gesture

Another story we’d love to share is about Sharon.

We were determined to incorporate sexy pink heliconias (the hanging pink flowers in the video) into the cocktail bar moment because of their beautiful color and uniqueness. But after reaching out to four growers, we had no luck.Then, at Home Depot in Lihue, Mariko overheard two women talking gardens. Magic words followed: 'But my sexy pink is doing great!'

We couldn’t let it slip. Jumping in, we asked if she’d sell some. Sharon, as we later learned, offered to check. Three hours later, we were in her yard, picking flowers.

Her garden was incredible, full of stories—just like her. And with a heart that big, we couldn’t be more grateful.

The sun broke through the clouds, casting a golden glow over the bar as the party started.

The rain came and went, but it cleared just in time for the reception. Every detail—the colors and textures of the linens, cushions, and plate chargers—was thoughtfully curated by Sofia from Sofia Nascimento Studio, bringing the whole look together.
