NINE KOLE

Kole (pronounced as coal-ay) are one of the most common fish to see on coral reefs in Hawai‘i.

They are popular to eat, especially at parties and celebrations. Traditionally, kole were buried under posts of new homes for good luck.

Kole also means “raw” and “story” in the Hawaiian language.


ABOUT MARIKO

Mariko Ladrillono is a floral designer, photographer and spearfisher woman. She is born and raised in Japan and currently makes her home in San Diego, California.

As creative director of Nine Kole she creates with an intention to tell a story that represents her clients. 

Currently, Mariko splits her time between California and Hawaii where she started her floral career. Formally trained as a graphic/web designer, art director, and project manager at creative agencies, Mariko uses her knowledge and approaches she’s cultivated to create unique experiences.
